About Kristyn

Kristyn has been riding since the age of 5. Kristyn has been a member of the United States Pony Club and has held certifications in equine assisted psychotherapy through EAGALA and riding instruction through CHA, certified to teach both English and western riding as well as jumping.    Kristyn has pursued her lifelong passion of horses and teaching since the age of 16 when she directed several riding programs at different well known camps in the state of Maine.  During college Kristyn spent one year in New York where she minored in equine management as well as competed in the intercollegiate jumper series successfully.    Kristyn ran a therapeutic riding program for a period of time before starting Briar Hill Farm at her home in Maine.  Within three years Kristyn had a successful lesson program with her kids displaying not only a passion for a sport but horse husbandry as well and became fixtures at the local show scene.   Kristyn believes that in order to teach one must be a student, and has had the privilege of riding and training with Walter Zettl an Olympic level dressage horse trainer and Eric Horgan a well known instructor and judge in 3-day eventing as well as an Olympic competitor and is currently taking lessons with Denny Emerson another olympic level eventer.

Kristyn has recently re-located to Lyme New Hampshire with her husband where she will be managing Lucky Star Stables she is hoping to continue to share her love and passion for horses with those who desire to learn how to ride as well as the necessary care and safety for themselves and their horses to foster a mutual respect for each other.  Kristyn’s lessons focus on safety, fun, and developing a solid foundation that one can take in any direction whether it be on the trails or in the show ring.

Hello- I live in Hanover, NH and heard of your stable through our friends- the Marshalls. We also know the Seeligs through hockey. We have 6 kids and some are interested in riding recreationally- primarily learning to trail ride, etc. Would it be possible to do a group rate for 2 or 3 of them at the same time? Or- do you run a summer camp at all?

Thanks for getting back to me-

Hi Wendy~ I don’t often check this website but you can feel free to email me at harrimank@gmail.com or call me at 207-974-7875. Have your kids ever ridden before? Typically I do not teach groups of riders that have never ridden before due to safety issues but try to teach the necessary things as quickly as possible so they can move to a group…however some learn more quickly than others. Trail riding is also something that is available here but typically only to those in consistent lessons and when I feel that it is safe for them to ride outside of the ring! Hope that helps! But please feel free to give me a call I’d love to talk more. I’m getting the dates for summer camp solidified and they should be up soon! Thanks again! Kristyn
